Periodic Table 2020 - Chemistry

Periodic Table 2020 – Chemistry

The app provides a interactive periodic table giving very detailed descriptions of each element within the table. The app exceeds expectations with regards to the detail given to each element. It provides basic information that could be used in a school classroom setting such as: year discovered, melting point, boiling point and atomic number all the way to degree level chemistry such as: emission spectra, oxidation states, electronic configuration and electromagnetic properties.

The app runs very smoothly and has very fast loading times. This was tested on the Google Pixel Slate (tablet version) and the Samsung Galaxy S10 (mobile version). The ease of access was better on the tablet version but this was due to the much larger screen so the full periodic table was able to fit on it. On the mobile version you can either scroll along to your desired element (this worked very smoothly and was not clunky at all) or set it to full screen mode which displayed the entire table, although this made the individual elements a very small font.

The app also has a search function which found whatever element I searched very quickly and also has every element in the form of a list offering another way to search for an element. The only point of improvement I came across while using the app was there is no option to compare elements, for instance, if you wanted to compare the oxidation states of different transition metals, but this is my only gripe.

Overall a very useful app that I actually wish I had discovered earlier in  my chemistry career, had far more information than was expected up to degree level chemistry and was very smooth to run and felt very professional. I will be keeping this app handy in the lead up to my summer exams.
