Chemical Substances

This app was created for educational purposes to help students prepare for chemistry classes, exams or Olympiads. It’s aimed to help students understand organic and inorganic names, formula, and structures of organometallic compounds, hydrocarbons acids, oxides and esters.

The app successfully does this using fun study techniques. This is through multiple choice questions, time games, flashcards and spelling quizzes. In my opinion, it is more suited towards higher level/ GCSE students and has incorporated a vast range of chemicals with over 200 organic and inorganic structures which I believe to be more suited to these students. It would be good for young minds as it’s interactive and the scoring system which the app uses would work well asa motivation and maybe take their minds of the fact they’re doing chemistry and more focus of the fun they have while doing so. The scoring system also gives the app that addictive aspect to it with the strive to keep beating your previous score. It does this by giving 3 lives which works by losing on every time you get a question wrong. The Flashcards are also a nice touch – the ability to click whether you were correct or not after they’ve shown the answer – something which a lot of apps don’t have. Below are some screenshots of the different aspects of the app.

On top of all this, the app is free to download and works with android and apple products with IOS 8 or later. It runs smoothly and has a simple but effective clean layout. We have included some screen-recordings of the app working below.

Overall score- 4.5/5
